In our vineyards we cultivate the best native Sicilian grapes according to tradition and with the organic method, without however neglecting care and attention for the international vineyards. In particular, the vineyard in the Sullerìa district, in Rodì Milici, is located in a place of extraordinary beauty, the scene of excellent viticulture since Roman times; the Mamertine produced here already delighted Julius Caesar. The light and warmth of the Sicilian sun, accompanied by light breezes and beneficial temperature ranges, bring the grapes to maturity until the moment of harvest, characterizing our red wines with pleasant roundness notes; on the other hand, the white wines are pleasantly fresh and savory thanks to the high minerality of the soils and their exposure to the sea. The harvest date is chosen by observing the vegetative development of the vines, tasting the grapes and carrying out repeated analytical checks which allow the evolution of all the parameters to be followed with scientific rigour, until the moment of full ripeness for the harvest is identified. The harvest is still done manually so that the collection, delicate and precise, allows you to make a first selection of the best bunches, which placed in small boxes are quickly transported to the cellar.

The family and history

In 1887, with the planting of the first vineyards, Don Peppino began the oenological history of the Grasso family, now in its fifth generation engaged in the wine sector. In 1925 his son Alessio inaugurated the first winery in Milazzo, which immediately became famous for the monumental barrels of hundreds of hectoliters each: thus began the great trade, with the transport by ship, of blended wines from the "plain of Milazzo" which gave a generous alcoholic contribution both to Piedmontese wines and to the great French "Chateau". From 1984 the company passed to the fourth generation, with still a recurring name, Alessio, who introduces the most modern technologies into the cellar, expands and diversifies the vineyard surfaces with an attentive eye also to organic production. Quality is the company's goal which never ceases to pursue it and is evidenced by over 120 medals and awards achieved in the most prestigious wine competitions in the world. These last few years have seen the passing of the baton to the fifth generation with the young Tullio and Carmelo inserted in the key points of the company.
