SOUTH AFRICA
The African continent has no areas suitable for the cultivation of vines, except for the southern part of South Africa , where wine has been produced for 350 years. The credit goes to the Dutch, who in 1600 controlled the area and trade between Europe and the Indies.
The most widely grown grape in South Africa is Chenin Blanc , while Pinotage is an autochthonous vine, a cross produced between Pinot Noir and Cinsaut, with which medium-high quality wines are produced.
