Chestnuts in red wine are a delicious dessert to be served after a meal. The recipe is very simple, the main thing is to choose a good wine. You can use Primitivo , Aglianico or Montepulciano , but Sangiovese is fine too.

To make red wine chestnuts , you will need:

  • 1 kg of chestnuts

  • 4 glasses of red wine

  • Sugar to taste

Method

  1. Rinse the chestnuts, make an incision with the tip of a knife and place them in a pot of cold water. They must be completely covered.
  2. Put on the fire and cook for 40 minutes from the boil.
  3. When cooked, drain the chestnuts, let them cool and peel them without breaking them.
  4. Put the chestnuts in a bowl and pour the red wine, then cover with the transparent film and leave to macerate for at least an hour before drain and serve. You can also add a few teaspoons of sugar, they'll be even better!
